Blizzard Ski & Snowboard School has an 8-week program for our youngest students, ages 3-5 years old.  The Tot program is design to introduce your child to skiing.  Tot students have their own age appropriate skill level to allow them to develop skiing skills at their own pace. Blizzard Tots are with a certified Blizzard ski instructor and an adult supervisor for 1 1/4 hours on designated Saturdays. This successful program has been expanded to offer 3 different sessions.  We have an AM, NN or PM sessions this season.  Tot classes average four students per instructor.  Tots has 4 levels, White (Never Skied/Beginner), Yellow (Beginner), Green (Beginner/Intermediate), and Blue (Intermediate).   We teach all four-skiing skill, Balance, Rotary, Pressure and Edging at all levels.  Beginner skills:  we start with walking in boots, walking with boots and skis, side stepping, gliding on skis, gliding to a stop, gliding and turning one direction, and introduce Tots to the magic carpet.  Intermediate Skills, are more defined beginner skill plus, we teach smaller wedge turns (moving to parallel turns), traversing, speed control using Turn shapes, turning both left and right, backwards skiing, hop turns, moving the children towards being an independent skier.   We have three different sessions, “TOT-AM”, "TOT-NN" or “TOT-PM”. TOTS ski program Ages 3 years - 5year old's.    Yearly Membership for AM, NN or PM, $300.00 with each session limited to 20 members. Membership covers the current ski season, equipment and lift tickets are not part of Membership. The session times AM session (10:30AM-11:45AM), NN session (12:15AM-1:30PM) or PM session (2:30PM-3:45PM). BLIZZARD MINI SKI PROGRAM (ages 6-8)

Blizzard Ski & Snowboard School has a special program (MINI) for our young 6 years – 8-year-olds.  Mini’s have their own age appropriate skill levels that allows them to develop their skiing skills at their own pace.  Mini classes average no more than seven students per instructor for Beginner/Intermediate lesson levels and eight students for Intermediate/Advance lesson levels.  Minis move through 6 different lesson levels, White, Yellow, Green, Blue, Black and Double Black.  White (new never skied), Yellow (new/beginner), Green (beginner/intermediate), Blue (intermediate), Black (intermediate/advanced), and Double Black (advanced).  The mini lesson is designed to move your child from a never every skier (White level) to an advanced paradelle/mogul skier (Double Black level).  Mini’s ski with a Blizzard certified instructor and adult supervisor for the entire day, lessons are 4.5 hours long.  We start Morning lessons at 10:00 am, break for Lunch at 12:00 pm, and continue afternoon lessons from 1:00pm to 3:30pm.  Mini’s take breaks as needed based on the snow condition and weather.  The lessons are designed to keep your child skiing for the full 4.5 hrs.  Adult Blizzard supervisors (Moms and Dads) take over during lunch (1 hour.), with coloring books and other lunchtime activities. After lunch it’s back on the slopes with the instructor.  Your child will be evaluated based on their skiing skill not age and placed into the apparat lesson.  Minis are evaluated during the lessons by their instructor and from a distance by the Mini Program Director and Co-Director.  The “MINI” ski program is designed for ages 6yr old's – 8yrs old's.  The yearly Membership for “MINI’s” is $400.00.  Membership covers the current ski season, equipment and lift tickets are not part of The Mini Membership. The session times AM lesson 10:00AM-12:00 NN, Lunch 12:00 NN – 1:00 PM, Afternoon lesson 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM. BLIZZARD YOUTH SKI & SNOWBOARD PROGRAM (ages 8-12)

 

 

Youth Ski & Snowboard Program

This Program is designed to help in the transition from moving out of the Mini Program into the Teens. Youth member’s lessons are 1 1/2-hour with a certified instructor and are in a supervised Free Ski group outside of their lesson.  Youth members take a 1 1/2 lesson, when Youth members are not in a lesson they are required to free ski/snowboard ski with an Adult Supervisor.  Youth will have one lesson on each trip.  Base on their ski/snowboard skills, lesson time will be 10am, or 11:30, or 2pm.  The lessons are a combination of technical exercises and teaching games designed to allow your child to develop the physical and mental skills needed to further their skiing/snowboarding ability.  Blizzard uses ten ski and seven snowboard levels, dividing skill development into the small obtainable steps needed to become a great skier or snowboarder.  The Lesson levels are based on ski and snowboarding skills not age.  We have Many students develop quickly into accomplished skiers or snowboarders, and all gain self-confidence and take pride in their skiing or snowboarding achievements.  Lessons times are 10:00 am, 11:30 am and 2:00 pm.  Lunch is at 1:00pm, Testing 3:30pm.    Levels for Youth Ski members, B, L, I, ZZ, A, R, D, Bronze, Silver, Gold.  Levels for Youth Snowboarder members, White, Yellow, Green, Blue, Black.  Bronze, Silver, and Gold.  Youth members at the B/White level, (new to skiing/snowboarding) will stay with an Instructor until they pass into the L/Yellow level.  Lessons Level B/White new to Skiing, L, I/Yellow (beginner levels), ZZ, A/Green (beginner/intermediate level), R, D/Blue, Black (intermediate level), Bronze, Silver (advanced level), Gold (expert level).  They will also enjoy associating with our supervisory staff and other members to develop relationship skills. 

Youth members when not in a lesson are required to free ski/snowboard ski with an Adult Ski Supervisor.  Youth members will check in/out at the lesson cones, Lunch is monitored but not supervised.  Youth members can eat lunch with in the Blizzards staging area at the ski area.  Youth will check in/out as they enter the lobby and when going to their lesson or free skiing.

Level specific 1 1/2-hour lessons are conducted each week.

This is the original Blizzard program and remains very popular today. Teen members lessons are 1 1/2-hour with a certified instructor and when not in lesson Teen members can free ski with Family and friends.  The lessons are a combination of technical exercises and teaching games designed to allow your child to develop the physical and mental skills needed to further their skiing/snowboarding ability.  Blizzard uses ten ski and seven snowboard levels, dividing skill develop

BLIZZARD APPRENTICE (ages 15+)

This is a program for our top level skiers (D, Bronze, Silver, or Gold) to allow them to shadow instructors, participate in Instructor on snow clinics.  The apprentice will learn how to develop teaching techniques, lesson plan, class handling.  This allows the student to determine if teaching is in their future interest.  This program is open to Adults as well.

PIN LEVEL SKILL MERITS: (all pin level skiers)

This is a program to add incentives to our upper level skiers. They are requires to display precision movements with control in both turning directions. Good luck you pinner's here are a few of the disciplines to accomplish: Royal Christies, Javelin turns, The Charleston, Pure carves, One ski turns, Falling leaf, Wedge swing hops, Dudley doodles, Check hop turns.

BLIZZARD ADULT SKI & SNOWBOARD PROGRAM (Ages 18 and Older)

Our Saturday Adult program is run on designated weekends (see online calendar for designated dates) from 2:00 –3:30 p.m. This program is designed for our adult members to begin or sharpen their skiing or snowboarding skills to help them improve. You do not need to have children in our other programs to participate, just a desire to learn. Lessons are available for everyone, from those who have never skied or snowboarded to the expert, who wants to revisit and improve their skills. Full season Program Fee—$175 any/all lessons Half season Program Fee- $80 any (3) lessons. Tickets and equipment are not part of membership. Blizzard Private Lessons

Registration OPENs October 1st for the 2019-2020 season.

Blizzard is continuing the Sunday lesson program again this year since it has been so successful. Members of this program have the choice of Private (One on One) lesson or Semi-Private (2-6 person) lesson.

Blizzard offers these lessons to anyone at any level.

  • Private Lesson Fee: $60 for first hour + $50 for each additional hour.
  • Semi-Private (1.5 Hour) Lesson Fee: $75 for first member + $55 for each additional member.

Blizzard encourages Grandparents, Moms, Dads, Kids, Grandkids, Sisters, Brothers, Cousins, Neighbors or any combination to take our Semi-Private lessons. These lessons are all 1 ½ hour long on designated Sundays.

Blizzard offers these lessons to anyone at any level. Lessons are booked on a first come basis and by instructor availability. Lessons are available seven days a week upon instructor availability. First timers must take a 2-hour Private lesson.
